Where I Stand

by Dr. Sam Hamod

Since 2000, my site has been dedicated to truth, honesty and the pursuit of justice and democracy. I am neither a Democrat nor a Republican, I am interested only in America being a moral leader in the world, a nation that aids those in need, a nation that takes care of its own and is interested only in the interests of mankind and follows the moral order of the major religions of the world, Christianity, Islam, Buddhism, Hinduism, Judaism, Taoism and Bahai.

During this time, I have been critical of many things that have not measured up to what I thought was good for America or for the world; I have condemned those who called for violence, regardless of their alleged religion (whether they called themselves Christians, Muslims, Jews, Hindus, Buddhists, etc.) when they did evil things. In our time we have seen plenty of hatred being spread by people from all these faiths—there is no need for me to repeat their names—they are known to all of you, and we all know the evil of their deeds, and I have called them on it.

Some thought that because I have been so critical of GW Bush’s war on Iraq that I must have liked Bill Clinton—not so. I thought Clinton betrayed the Palestinians and offered them only a Bantustan existence.
To this day, I have no respect for Clinton or his wife; but I do respect George Bush Sr. for having the courage and insight to know that it was best not to enter and destroy the infrastructure of Iraq (even though he and I, and many others knew that Saddam Hussein was a devil).
America cannot police or control the entire world; just as the Spartans could finally not control the world of their time; nor could Rome when it became too big and wanted to conquer the known world of the time.

I am also upset with the time of the Reagan era when the Irish mafia of Reagan, Ted Kennedy and Tip O’Neill conspired to rape America by giving the biggest tax break in history to corporations but not requiring that they use the tax break funds only to be spent in America. What they did was to allow this big tax break to go through and 98% of the U.S. corporations took the money to develop overseas subsidiaries, factories and thus destroy the power of the American working force and its income structure. At least George Bush Sr. did not sign NAFTA or WTO, for he felt they would hurt the American citizenry in the short and long run; he was right. Ronald Reagan left it on his desk. As soon as Bill Clinton got into office, he worked to pass both NAFTA and the WTO, both of which have been detrimental to the American citizenry, but have been a boondoggle making the American corporate group richer and richer, while American workers have become poorer and poorer.

I liked Washington, Jefferson, Madison, Adams the first, Lincoln, Eisenhower, Carter and even Nixon ( I still feel that he did more good things than bad in office; but he, like many others made mistakes); I also liked the pre-presidency of Lyndon Johnson and his moves to help integration, and I liked the later John F. Kennedy after Kruschev taught him a lesson in power politics. I have always distrusted Henry Kissinger, I think the truth about him has come out in the long run; he did little for real peace in the Middle East, instead, he was a shill for Israel and still is. Henry, whom I’ve known for years, has always had a hatred for the Arabs and Muslims, even though he tried to cover it with slippery semantics. On the other hand, Zbignew Brezinski. has been a fair man in world affairs and did work for peace wherever he went. This shows you that we can have good men, like Z B, but also men who drag us into immorality, like H K.

Again, my main concern is peace and justice in the world. No one really ever wins a war, just as no one ever really wins a street fight (except in the movies, and that’s all malarkey). In the case of Iraq, Saddam was a terrible devil, but we have made more of mess of Iraq than ever, and more people, both Iraqi and Americans, have died than was necessary—and to this day, I know, and every veteran, every General and Commander who has seen combat, as I have, knows that George W. Bush has no idea of the reality of Iraq or the hell that our people and the Iraqis are going through. Nor does GW Bush realize how he has created what most Muslims in the world see as a “new crusade.” Thus, he has caused a hatred of America that has been destructive to America, and to all of us who are patriotic citizens. Also, his deliberate destruction of the Constitution and his slanderous use of the word, “patriotism”, has been destructive to the very fabric of our democracy.
Not only do I say this, but even members of George Bush Sr’s administration have been saying this recently, many academic jurists in our top law schools have been saying this, many international jurists have said this, many professor of ethics and morals have said this, as well as true theological scholars (not the ilk of Falwell, Robertson,
Graham and the lot of pretenders to Christianity). Mr. Bush has also never answered the parents, like Cindy Sheehan, who have asked why their children died for the deliberate lies of he, Cheney, Wolfowitz and Rumsfeld. At the same time, aside from Senator Byrd, most Democrats are as chicken-livered as Bill Clinton, who had the nerve the other day to say that he was sure GW Bush did not intentionally mislead America into the attack on Iraq. All that Kerry and Biden can do, and they are both mushy headed fools of the same calibre as Clinton, is to say that the “war in Iraq should have been run better,” not yet realizing that it was immoral, illegal, ill-founded and unwinnable.

I will now state an opinion that has been shown to be true in every Muslim nation—no Muslim nation or Arab nation will allow an outside power to stay very long in their lands—eventually they push the conquerors out. In Iraq this has always been the case, and it is clearly becoming the case now—just as I predicted before we even went into Iraq on the false words of Chalabi, Feith, Rove, Wolfowitz, Cheney and Rumsfeld. In fact, Rumsfeld is so ignorant that he doesn’t realize that it takes a land army to subdue a people over time, that rockets, Humvees and tanks can’t do it, and never can and never will—but somehow, my old acquaintance, Don, doesn’t see this, and has yet to learn this—even those his top generals at the Pentagon all know this but realize he won’t listen to them (that’s why they went to Congressman Murtha to have their opinions heard!)

I also think it is high time that Amrericans realize that Sharon’s and Israel’s agendas are not America’s agendas. We must quit supporting Israel in a carte blanche fashion. We must not fund them if they continue this oppressive and inhumane behavior, this illegal behavior, toward the Palestinians. By our support, we are complicitous in this evil that Sharon and Israel perpetrate upon the Palestinian people. If America quit following the Tom Lantos’ , the Grahams, the other Zionist agents in our Congress, we’d be better off. Most Americans don’t realize that every Israeli is subsidized by America to the tune of at least $40,000.00 per person, per year—you show me an American, aside from a Congressperson, who gets that kind of financial assistance. Bah!

So then what am I—I am a true Conservative. I wish to conserve our Constitution, our moral leadership, our water, our air, our people’s rights, our honor in the world, our honor in our courts, our opportunity to lead the world and make it a better place. I fear our last two presidents have done just the opposite; neither have served our nation well. Let us hope and pray our future presidents will do better.

I am turning the political sections of Todaysalternativenews.com over the Professor Horace Coleman from November 28, 2005, on; I will contribute pieces from time to time; and I will continue to edit the Culture section, while he edits International, National and California/San Diego sections. I think you will find him to be thoughtful, intelligent, fair-minded and respectful of our Constitution and a desire that America be a moral leader in the world, by better behavior here at home and abroad.

I sincerely pray for our nation, for I fear it is sliding downward at a fast pace, both morally, economically and militarily—and unless we get more men and women of courage in the presidency and in our congress—we are lost, and shall go the way of Athens, Sparta and Rome.
