Humphrey Bogart in San Francisco: The Big Sleep There was always a fog Or rain, or something else, San Francisco, cloudy Or dark, never any sun, That caused Bogart To grab his raincoat, but what Got me were all those beautiful babes, though he was short, they’d give him the eye, kind of Turn to show Their best Side or Check him out With their rear view But Bogie always knew When to pull The string, when to Let it Loose, or when To take a hard right To the jaw rather Than a 38 to the gut, He caught Dorothy Malone With her hair down, and We can only guess how Long the rain lasted That afternoon As he waited outside Geiger’s store, I know the rye had to be Drunk, she grabbed him Before he left, a bit Disheveled, He knew how to hold On to his cash, but also His love Of the horses and good scripts, kept him On a sharp edge, so when he Decided to Hang it up, He had enough to Go sailing Into the sunset off Malibu, and Oh yes, he took Mrs. Rutledge with him C: sam hamod, may 30, 2010 Sam Hamod is a poet, you may find more about him on this site and on google.com.
