(from) THE BOOK OF ANSWERS And what of fame?, he was asked. Fame is but another distraction, not to be trusted. Why? It is fleeting, a wind across the prairie, disappearing in its flow But what then? Why then, it dissipates in time, and it is little remembered when a new wind comes Then what is value in fame? Enjoy it for the moment, but do not take it too heart, or it will ultimately destroy your heart. Remember all the great writers and their moments of fame, then they disappeared, Dante, Marlowe, Faulkner, Hemingway, Eliot, Pound, Auden, Yeats, and who now runs after them with great interest? Then what should we value? Value that which you have in this moment, value this moment God gave you; you are not promised another. Some may come and maybe not even another day will come, the sun may shine, but one day it may not. But won’t there be other moments to come? None are promised, and none are ever the same, even though at times, days may seem the same, none of them are, not in their beginning or their ends. But how do we learn to value the moment and what we have? By not valuing it, but by living in it, and appreciating whatever it has to offer. Page 2, From The Book of Answers And how do we know what to do ? "and when Allah calls your name, it is not if you wish to hear or not, but it is a voice you cannot turn away from, it booms inside your heart, your ears have no part in it, and stays there until you do what HE commands" (from THE BOOK OF ANSWERS) And what of those who have passed from this earth? We always have angels, people who loved us who have passed from this time and this earth, who watch over us, and when crises come, they do speak to us; if we listen, we shall prosper, if we don't then we shall fail. But remember, you must listen, for they only stay a little while, but they speak the truth to you for they love you. c: sam hamod, j;une 3, 4, 2010 Professor Sam Hamod, Ph.D. writes on world, political, spiritual and poetic matters for a variety of sites; he may be reached at samhamod2@gmail.com or this site. |
